Relic tour of St. Damien and St. Marianne brings hope across the U.S.

Mark Jechura, a layman from Arkansas, has traveled across the United States with relics of St. Damien of Molokai and St. Marianne Cope, with the mission of nurturing hope in the hearts of the faithful during the Jubilee Year of Hope. From large churches like St. Paul’s in Minnesota, where thousands gathered in prayer, to a county jail where inmates were invited to hold a relic of St. Damien, Mark has witnessed how the saints’ intercession can transform lives—including his own.

While visiting Molokai, he joined Fr. Pat Fanning sscc for Mass and a prayer service at St. Damien of Molokai Church, where parishioners prayed over petitions written by inmates. Now that the tour is nearing its end, Mark is taking time to reflect on what God has done through this mission and is considering writing about his experiences to encourage others to discern their own vocations. His goal has been clear: to bring people closer to the saints and show that, even in difficult times, hope remains alive through faith and prayer.
