San José Sagrados Corazones School in Seville, widely known as Padres Blancos, is celebrating its 70th anniversary by bringing back one of the greatest symbols of its theatrical history: Jesus Christ Superstar, the legendary musical that has left its mark on generations of students and audiences.
The school’s connection with Superstar began in 1981 with a memorable production inspired by the Spanish version by Camilo Sesto. For years, the show filled the school’s sports hall and featured performers such as Antonio Dechent and María Ruiz. In 1992, a new adaptation even became part of the official program for the Holy See Day at Expo ’92, staged at El Palenque.
After its most recent run in 2013, the musical now returns with a renewed cast while maintaining the same spirit of dedication, innovation and artistic quality that has made it a tradition.
