The Japan Region holds its first Assembly

The Japan Region of the Indonesian Province has successfully concluded its first Regional Assembly on February 13. The assembly was held at the SSCC Tomobe Monastery and marked an important milestone in this new stage of the congregation’s journey in Japan.

On February 12, the members identified three main priorities to guide their mission over the next three years:

  1. The continuation of kindergarten ministry
  2. Care for elderly members
  3. Youth ministry

The Assembly was honored by a short visit from Bishop Paul Daisuke Narui, SVD, Bishop of the Diocese of Niigata. In his brief address, Bishop Narui expressed his gratitude to the SSCC Congregation for its presence and service in Yamagata Parish, which belongs to the Niigata Diocese. He also shared insights into the current situation and pastoral realities of the diocese. His visit brought encouragement and renewed strength to the members as they continue their mission despite various challenges.

The Assembly concluded with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided over by the newly elected Regional Superior, Fr. Andrew John Michiaki Chihara sscc. After the Mass, the members gathered in the chapel for a group photo, marking the joyful conclusion of this historic first assembly.
