On Wednesday, 25 September, in the Diocese of Iquique, the opening session of the Diocesan tribunal was held to investigate a probable miracle of Esteban Gumucio Vives ss.cc. that occurred in this diocese.
The court is constituted by Bishop Guillermo Vera, who has delegated Fray Juan Rovegno Suárez as judge, Fr. Franklin Luza Zañartu (promoter of justice and notary chancellor], Doris De Ferrari Mir, (notary actuary) and Gonzalo Rojas (expert doctor). Sergio Silva ss.cc. was also present as Vice-Postulator of the cause. René Cabezón, the provincial of the Sacred Hearts, also participated in the opening session along with Rafael Silva (lay coordinator of the process for the canonisation of Father Esteban).
Prior to the opening session of the court, Sergio Silva was able to present part of the life of Father Esteban to almost 30 members of the clergy of the Diocese of Iquique. All ended up singing two verses of the song “Prayer”, a song that had been written by the Servant of God.
