On Sunday, October 20, Cardinal Claudio Hummes, president of REPAM and general rapporteur of the Synod for Amazonia, presided at the Eucharist in the Catacombs of Santa Domitila, Rome.
The songs and the Amazonian style created a fraternal atmosphere and communion among bishops, priests, religious and laity. All united for the same cause: To Protect our Common Home.
At the end of this celebration, the bishops of the Synod signed the new "Pact of the Catacombs for the Common House". So did all the other participants who wanted to commit themselves to integral ecology and indigenous peoples. The Generalate community, which has had an active participation in various activities parallel to the Synod, joined this ecclesial commitment through the signing of the document.
