Our brother Alberto Gaitán sscc made his perpetual profession during a solemn and festive Eucharist celebrated on Saturday, June 20, at the parish church of the Sacred Hearts in Seville. The celebration, presided over by Pedro Gordillo sscc, Provincial Superior, was attended by brothers, sisters, sscc laity, students and teachers from Colegio San José sscc, the parish community, as well as Alberto's family, and laypeople from the parishes he has been connected to, from his native Málaga to Madrid.
In a recent interview that the newly professed brother gave to the media of the Archdiocese of Seville, he shared these meaningful words:
To live this moment with the spiritual depth it requires, this Málaga native, now serving in the Archdiocese of Seville, explains that he has been preparing through prayer and spiritual reading. He also noted, "my preparation has been to continue with the mission the congregation asks of me, accompanying the life and the crosses of the students at the school," referring to the Colegio San José sscc, where he teaches. He also collaborates with the Parish of the Sacred Hearts: "It's a very lively community, with many groups and a very active Youth Ministry." He also highlights the solidarity of the parish community, which has created a Volunteer Commission to coordinate the projects it supports, including the Oblate Sisters, Regina Mundi, and the Maparra Project in the Tres Mil Viviendas neighborhood, among others.
And although Alberto Gaitán acknowledges that today "it isn't easy to commit to something forever, not just in religious life," he also affirms that when God "catches you, you cannot refuse," and when you listen to Him "you risk everything for Him."
