From June 26 to 28, young people from four parishes — Mentawai, Lau Baleng, Lawedesky, and Brayan Bengkel (Medan) — gathered at the Faustina Center in Medan to take part in the sscc Youth Camp of Indonesia.
Fr. Tarsisius Son, sscc, presided over the opening Eucharist, with five sscc priests as concelebrants. On behalf of the sscc Province of Indonesia, Fr. Tarsi invited the young people to make the most of this gathering as a privileged space for reflection, faith-sharing, and the exchange of life experiences. In his homily, Fr. Antun, sscc, showed a video about Fr. Rolf, sscc, and invited the participants to learn from and follow his example of life.
Under the theme "Walking Together in the Spirit of Synodality and Toward Holiness," the young people were called to live out a spirit of collaboration and mutual trust. Fr. Antun Wardoyo, sscc, and Sr. Lidya Kaban, sscc, shared their personal experience of living alongside Fr. Rolf, highlighting his spirit of simplicity. For those who knew him, Fr. Rolf was a humble and approachable priest who chose to live among the poorest and made prayer the constant breath of his life.
As a symbolic gesture of care for creation, the participants joined in a cleanup of the area surrounding the church. The camp also made room for creativity and joy: dance and singing enlivened the moments of fraternity.
Fr. Paulus Halek Bere, sscc, coordinator of the sscc Region of Sumatra, presided over the closing Eucharist on June 28. In his homily, he encouraged the young people to be proud of being Catholic and to live fully the grace of their baptism — called to share in the mission of Christ as a priestly, prophetic, and royal people, always following the example of Jesus.
