The fifth Chapter of the Province of Africa takes place from July 14 to 20 at the novitiate in Boane, Mozambique. Particitapting in it are 13 capitulants, sister Colette Buhangize (superior of the sisters in Africa), as well as Alberto Toutin and Javier Alvarez-Ossorio (General Government).
After listening to various reports on the life of the Province, the Chapter seeks guidance to strengthen the community life and transparency in the management of property. It is also necessary to reduce the number of works and communities because the number of brothers has fallen relative to the size of three years ago. At present, in Africa there are 21 brothers of perpetual profession and six brothers in temporary profession.
This Wednesday, July 17, the Chapter elected Jean Blaise Mwanda as the new provincial superior. He succeeds Willy Mpia, who served as interim provincial superior for one year following the election of Camille Sapu (former provincial) to the General Government.
