The Region of India has inaugurated a new building in Kolkata today (81, Ripon Street). The building is named Damien House. The newly constructed structure stands on the same place where Damien House, the first ever house in the Kolkata area, once stood. The older structure was pulled down following the uninhabitable condition of it because of its ancient nature and structure.
It was blessed and inaugurated by Fr. Lane Akiona -the USA provincial superior- who is on his maiden visit to India for the Annual Regional Assembly of the Region. This house would be open for the guests, volunteers at the Missionaries Charity houses, and friends with a small donation/contribution for the mission of the Congregation.
The Region of India is grateful to those generous donours and well-wishers who have helped the Region in accomplishing it.
