Family Night in Hawaii (Brs & Srs)

On 15 January 2013 brothers and sisters of the USA Province gathered for a Family Night, a new tradition of ‘face meeting’ in different areas of the province, to be with one another in the spirit of family unity.

The theme for this year is the new Tonga Mission which will begin on the 1st of February 2013. Johnathan Hurrell and Regina Mary Jenkins performed the rite of commissioning for Clyde Guerreiro using the formula which is part of our SSCC tradition. A mural of mosaic made specifically by Sr.Dorothy Santos (91) for the Tonga Mission was presented to be taken to the new Mission.

Two bishops were present at the event. Bishop Larry Silva (diocese of Honolulu) gave a few words of encouragement and thanks to the SSCC for founding the church in Hawaii and for the continued mission in Hawaii. Bishop Peter-Paul who was visiting from Ghana expressed his intention to invite our Congregation to his diocese.

Rosa Maria Ferreiro who completed her term as Superior General in Rome, also joined the occasion. Another guest who heartened the occasion was Immaculee Ilibagiza, a survivor of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda and an inspirational speaker with an amazing story of forgiveness.
