Wednesday 4 July 2019 was a meaningful day for all of us in Jogyakarta, especially for the 10 brothers who renewed their vows. This renewal has a special meaning for them because Brother Hendrikus Asan Kaleleng who played a special role in the formation of each of them had passed away the day before their renewal.
"Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produce many seeds. "Like this verse from the Gospel of John, Brother Hendrik has produced abundant fruit in this world especially in the Congregation of SSCC in Indonesia. The brothers who renewed their vows are Felix KAPITAN GORAN, Karolus KEPOLOK HUAR, Kornelius PAULUS BALA KOTEN, Matias MERU UJAN, Herman Yosep DOWENG OPENG, Franciscus Xaverius MARTANA, Fenantius JUNAEDI, Abel NELO BLIKON, Adrianus David Nautani and Wulfstan HARIS SOERIANTO.
After renewing their vows, three of the brothers, Franciscus Xaverius MARTANA, Fenantius JUNAEDI, Abel NELO BLIKON received the minor orders of acolyte and lector in a very simple ceremony. Soon after this, the other four brothers Karolus KEPOLOK HUAR, Kornelius PAULUS BALA KOTEN, Matias MERU UJAN, and Herman Yosep DOWENG OPENG joined the three to receive a blessing from a brother priest, using the statute of our Lady of Peace as protector of our mission. This was done to symbolise the sending of the brothers on their pastoral year. Three of the brothers will go to the minor Seminary in Flores, Atambua and Bogor, and the other three will serve in the parish setting in Mentawai Lawe Desky, Diocese of Kotabumi Lampung. Finally, one of the brothers will help in Batam Oase Center. Let us support these brothers of ours so that their life and mission may attract more young people to join us in the same mission.
