Over the past four weeks, Father Johnathan Hurrell sscc and Deacon Te Uluilakeba sscc carried out an enriching pastoral visit to the 12 small Christian communities that make up St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Tamavua, Fiji.
As part of a tradition that takes place every three months, each community hosted a Eucharistic celebration in a home, promoting closeness among the faithful and the missionary spirit of our Congregation.
The communities visited are named after saints: Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, St. Francis of Assisi, St. James, St. Peter the Rock, St. Augustine, St. Theresa, St. Bernard, St. Vincent, St. Peter Chanel, St. Monica, St. Mary Magdalene, and St. Michael.
At the end of the visits, Father Johnathan expressed with gratitude: “Each community really cares about the others. There is always a genuine desire to help one another. It is a clear example of the poor helping the poor.”
Both he and Deacon Te shared their joy in seeing that these communities not only value the presence of our SSCC brothers but also live our Congregation’s charism with great enthusiasm.
