From 5 - 6 October, a meeting of the local superiors of India took place, together with the regional government at the SSCC Seminary in Calcutta. Thomas Sukotriraharjo and Fernando Cordero, who are on a canonical visit to the Region, also participated in the meeting.
The first day was dedicated to sharing how each local superior is doing, what are the lights and challenges that each one faces in his service. Then, there was a sharing on community life and the mission of each of the communities. In addition, an overview of the life of the Region was given, with a report from the Regional Government on the steps taken so far on the decisions of the regional assembly, held last June.
Other business included information from the Ongoing Formation Commission on how the Regional Ongoing Formation Plan is working. Also discussed was the progress being made in the elaboration of the apostolic project of religious life of the local community.
On the second day, time was dedicated to the theme of Synodality, led by Fernando, who encouraged the brothers to live leadership in a synodal way. He pointed out aspects such as silence, discernment, capacity for reflection, critical lucidity, inclusive openness, distinguishing the essential from the secondary, the urgent from the important.
