The Caribbean and Latin American Confederation of Religious (CLAR) recently organised a Continental Seminar on the Care and Protection of Minors, called "Let us act quickly to take care of the lives of children and adolescents”. The seminar took place in Bogotá (Colombia), between 20th and 23rd November. Pedro León sscc, who is in charge of formation and also the person delegated by the Province of Chile to receive allegations of abuse, was present.
In an opening document it was stated that to address the issue "of the abuse of power, conscience and sexuality of minors and vulnerable adults is to enter into a deep wound that seems to bleed and open more and more deeply in the Church and in all walks of life".
Close to seventy-three religious and lay people from nineteen countries took part in the seminar, determined to work on this very challenging issue and looking for ways to promote and deepen awareness within the National Conferences of religious men and women, all with a view to creating healthy and safe spaces for minors and vulnerable people.
