Wim (Wilhelmus Johannes Gerardus) was born in Heerlem on August 28 1926.He became member of the Congregation at Ginneken near Breda on September 24, 1948. He was ordained priest in Valkenburg on August 30, 1953.
In August 1955, Wim became a missionary of enthronement. In 1960 he was transferred to Valkenburg where he was entrusted with various responsibilities in our formation house as well as continuing his apostolate of enthronement. Beginning September 1962, he became a teacher in Breda and taught religion, was responsible for the chaplaincy, as well as the store and the center in Bavel, near Breda which he started.
For Wim, the best years were those as pastor in Ulvenhout (1976 – 1984) and as Pastor of the Sureneese in Den Haag (1984 -2002). In 2002 he arrived at s’Hertogenbosch and became member of our community.
His pain continued to increase. Despite this handicap he continued to be of service in the house as well as keeping his contacts with the people he had known as parish priest. Shortly after his 86th birthday, Wim had to be hospitalized for what seemed to be a terminal illness. The end to which he aspired came on Sunday, September 16th, 2012.
We wish to praise the Lord for the very rich life of Wim in a Eucharistic celebration which will be held in the retirement home of Zuiderhout in Teterigen, Arnold Janssenlaan 46, Friday, September 21 at 11 am. The burial will take place at the Congregation cemetery in Zuylen, Haagweg 332 in Breda. At the end of the ceremony you may present your condolences.
