Henk was born in Zwolle on August 25, 1922. He took his temporal vows in Bavel on September 24, 1942 and was ordained a priest in Broekhem, on February 22, 1948.
From 1949 to 1953 he worked in Bavel in the administration and the propaganda of the Congregation. From 1953 to 1957 he was in active military service as army chaplain. Then he took his job in the propaganda again. In 1967 he was appointed bishop by the moderator of the Training School for Kindergarten teachers in Breda. Moreover, from 1968 to 1985 he was rector of the Benedictine sisters in Breda.
After his retirement in 1987 he served nine years as secretary of the Dutch province. To old age he was always prepared to provide services to the community.
After the relocation of the community of Bavel to Teteringen he has had three good months. He was pleased with his beautiful room. He could sometimes step outside. Then the disease hit again. He had to go a real way of the cross, which he could finish with great help from others. He learned to carry his cross. On February 3, 2010 he died quietly, after receiving the extreme unction.
